Pregnant School Teacher Charged With Having Sex With Her Teenage Student.

A Sydney private school teacher, 33, has been charged over an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy. The 33-year-old woman - who is pregnant - was arrested on Friday and appeared in Newtown Local Court with her husband and mother.

The teacher faces charges of indecent assault and six counts of sexual intercourse with a person under care between 17 and 18 years.

The magistrate heard the woman accused, 'was in a position of power and she's abused that power ... she has exercised a degree of influence over him' according to the prosecutor.

The mother posted $30,000, allowing the woman to be released on bail.

The police were alerted after the teenager told a school counsellor about the alleged relationship, The Daily Telegraph reported.

This launched an investigation and it is believed the teacher was suspended last month and parents were informed about the aforementioned charges.

Neither the school or the woman's identity can be revealed.
