Scottish Nurse Who Contacted Ebola In Sierra Leone Rushed Back To The Hospital

Nurse Pauline Cafferkey who contracted Ebola while working in Sierra Leone has reportedly been rushed to hospital by a police escort. The Scottish medical
worker, 40, was infected with the disease while nursing sufferers in 2014, and returned to the UK at the end of December that year.

Cafferkey, from, from Cambuslang , near Glasgow, has since had two further admissions to hospital - one with a relapse of the Ebola virus and the other with chronic meningitis.

It is unconfirmed whether her latest admission is related to the Ebola virus, reports the Daily Record.

Cafferkey arrived at Heathrow Airport in December 2014 after six weeks working in the West African country.

She and 50 other medical staff were given an ebola assessment form, on which their temperature and other information was to be recorded.

But the nurse was cleared to go through a screening area after her arrival - despite registering a high body temperature.

Within days of returning to Scotland, she was flown to the Royal Free Hospital in London where she spent almost a month in isolation and was described as being in "critical" condition.
