A Texas woman who once weighed more than 1,000 pounds and was called the “Half Ton Killer” has lost 800 pounds, according to KTRK.
Mayra Rosales, 34, was 1,000 pounds when her 2-year-old nephew died after her sister hit him in the head with a hairbrush in 2008.
Her sister begged Mayra Rosales to take the blame. Mayra told police
that she smothered the child by rolling on top of him. She was then
charged with murder.
But an autopsy discredited that story and Mayra’s sister later
confessed. Mayra’s name was officially cleared and the charge was
dropped.
She vowed to get healthy and lose the weight so she could care for her sister’s children.
Mayra Rosales lost about 800 pounds with the help of multiple surgical
procedures and changing her diet. She said she still has more weight she
wants to lose.
“I was dying. I don’t know if you had seen pictures before you could see
it in my face. I had given up in life,” Rosales said. “I was alive but
not living a life.”
